NEW COLLAGE WORK

The pandemic changed some fundamental aspects of my life, including my basic creative impulses. I found it difficult to conjure the magic I previously could tap into with the weight of the world heavy on my mind. Fighting back against the malaise, I reverted to a creative exercise I enjoyed in early undergrad- the humble collage. I began cutting apart magazines collected from thrift stores and friend donations, creating a large image stockpile of all shapes, textures, and sizes to assemble whimsical works that are made from pure free-association. The juxtaposition of various elements reflect the nonsensical state of the world. What I learned from all of this was to stop taking myself so seriously, and to start having fun again with the creative process.
